Hi,

Would really like to receive your newsletter. Just starting a Mustang II
but still on the fence about what to power it with. Lycoming is the
SIMPLE way to go but is it the best ??? Just gathering as much info as I
can about different options.

Welcome Tony. We think the rotary is the best way to go.

Tony, if you go check the NTSB website, you will see thousands of
reported incidents since 1973 in which the root cause was the failure of
engine components which the rotary just doesn't have.

You will also see about 10 reports in that same time frame which mention
Mazda or rotary engines -- and one of those is an accident in which a
plane with a reciprocating engine lost power and crashed into a Mazda
CAR.  Of the remainder, all are the direct result of mistakes made by
the pilot or builder.  NOT ONE is the result of an engine failing due to
a design or manufacturing flaw.
