   I just found this shot of what I think is a Nemesis NXT.
   I think this aircraft was designed for speed and more speed.
   Can anyone comment on the design and is there other photo's of cowl
   flaps
   etc. I thought the exit air would be pointed back rather than down!!??

   They rarely use cowl flaps on racing planes as they take off and
   climb out
   at a shallow angle and at less then full power. Here are some more
   shots from my
   collection. Since there is so  much stuff crammed in the cowl the
   cooling
   drag is probably higher than it need be.

What is the recess in the bottom of the cowl between the inlet air to
engine ‘Y’ tube and the cowl exit holes in the photo Inside-bottom-cowl.jpg.

I think that was the oil cooler installation.
Piston engines do not require as much oil cooling as rotaries
as the piston is cooled somewhat more on the intake stroke compared
to a rotary.
