I have been looking at the EE PC for my own use & that of a collegue.
Does it support mobile internet access ? I know it's bundled with
Red Hat on your side of the pond at least.

Over here I have not yet found an ISP that dont need WIndows XP or
Mac - OS - X  to work the transciver dongles ( 3.5 G ) involved.

It I am not sure about that. It has wireless built in.
I don't think it has 3G built in.
I was thinking of looking into 3G myself. So far I have had
pretty good luck with the wireless even in the wilds of Australia.

Some people say 3G is rather slow.

It has a USB port so I guess if you got a 3G USB transceiver
that might work if they had a Linux version of the software.

There is also a Windows XP version of the Eee PC 1000HD.
However that requires a hard disk. My 1000 has 40 gig solid
state memory and six hours of battery life. With 16 gig USB memory
sticks  available that seems to be enough. I can get all of my
files on three 16 gig sticks.

Apparently HP is re-labeling the AZUS EeePC.

Paul and Bryon,
I looked for a small PC when I was laid up after my op. I ended up getting
an Acer Aspire One, it's a little slow, but has most things and runs AutoCAD
2008, the good bit it cost $500 Aust . The Asus 1000 would be better but
wasn't available ( I was told) at the time, and a fair bit dearer when it
was available. The battery life sucks on the Acer.
