Is Richard Sohn any closer to marketing 1 rotor kits?

 We'll be in the market for 100 hp single rotor in about a year.

Hi Chris,

here is the status.

I am in the process of fabricating the parts for the first flyable engine.
Actually one for my airplane and one for the test stand. These two are
identical.
My goal is to have a first flight before the end of the year. BTW the
airplane is flying presently with a SOOB.

Unfortunately, I have no plans for production, which would take more
resourses then I have available.However, this may change once the engine is
flying, hopefully.

the up and coming 16x would make a great single rotor engine being alum and
direct injected well worth doing for the LSA, UAV markets, maybe we could
get tracy cook to manufacture a kit engine if enough people were interested?

If it shows up. One could probably get more power out of a 13B p-port one rotor.
Narrower rotors are not the way to go IMHO. The engine is an attempt to increase
low RPM torque for automotive use. Do you want to tow or do you want to go? :)

It is a real shame Rotamax made some bad decisions based on invalid static thrust
testing. Optimizing for static trust with a fixed pitch prop  has caused people
to die. High static thrust is not what you want unless you are building air boats.
What you want is high thrust in the 60 to 100 MPH range for aircraft takeoff
and climb out.

I think a 2.64 ratio with a 3 blade prop would be a great combination.
Static RPM would be about 5800.

Perhaps Rotamax will be resurrected and they will hire a real Aero Space
engineer next time.
