The first one is related to the Wankel engine and
the principle
has been known for more than 60 years. See the
attached chart.
It is the one on the lower right. If it worked
Felix would have
chosen it :)
The second one injects water into the engine every
now and
then. The water cools the engine and is converted
to steam
which expands and pushes the piston down. Sort of a
marriage between
the steam engine and the gasoline engine. The water
is a total
loss system.Then some gasoline must be
burned to heat the
engine up again. The trouble is the water
deposits will foul the engine so distilled water
must be used.
Distilled water is not energy free. It takes heat
to distilled water
unless it is done with sun light but that is not
free either.
Somebody must spend money to do it, ship and
distribute the distilled
water. Right now distilled water cost more than
gasoline. You will
still have a rust problem in most engines. Water
will also get into
the crankcase oil causing catastrophic structural
failure. That might
be solved with a "dry" (wet? :)) sump system and a
water and oil
separator.

I just want to add.It is a closed steam system the water
is in a loop.

That will cut the cost of the distilled water at the expense of
additionalweight and cost for a condenser. Strange... condensers
never caught on in the
age of steam. How are you going to keep it from freezing up in
Canada? :)
