Joe, here are the three possible locations for the drain. Of course,
it
can be put anywhere you like. Photo "A" is on the bottom as close to
the deep end as possible. Up to now, this has been where I have
been
installing the drains. Photo "B" The drain is on the back face.
The
last three photos show the drain on the front face just below the
S-beam. This is the ideal position if you want to use a pump. Feed
the suction hose to the rear of the pan. Couldn't be neater--- if a
pump can be found with a hose that will fit through the drain hole.
BTW, I just assembled the pan/sbeam with a couple of loose bolts for
these photos. Properly installed every thing will line up
perfectly. :)
Jerry
Jerry, I've been working to try and improve my aluminum TIG skills
and am
always impressed by your craftsmanship. Regarding the pan, what are
folks
using for an oil pickup?
Steve Beckham
Steve, I make the flange out of mild steel, 1.125" x 2.25" x .25"
thick. Pick up tube is .75 o.d. 4130 ( lots of little pieces left
from the engine mounts). It hangs straight down from the flange
5.5". No screen. I made ten of them yesterday so the numbers are
still rattling around in my head. The flange bolts are 6 mm, but I
drill the bolt holes 1/4". Fits nicely.
The bolt centers are 36mm apart. Jerry
