 Paul,

This item is apparently  a small magneto.  It says it works up to
 15,000rpm.
Perhaps it might help in powering the 555 system.

Looks exactly what the doctor ordered for carb or 555 EFI.

Good work Doug. Thanks. Cheap too.

This is similar to a system coming from Germany by the name of PVL. It is
widely used in racing bikes. I got one of those systems for testing on the
single rotor.  It fired fine when acranking without the plugs at a fairly
high starter speed, but did not produce a spark when slowed down with the
plugs in. I then talked to the bike racers who are using the system, and I
told that it is only used in bikes, which are started with a rear wheel
electric roller starter. According to what they told me, it can not be
used in a bike with a kick starten, and is vey marginal on bikes with
electric starter. The reason for that is the small diameter of the magnet
rotor not giving enough velocity of  the magnet past the coil pole to
 produce a sparc.

It certainly is very attractive if it can be made to work. I will get back
to it at a later time for doing some more tests.
