The Mazda RX8's are one two on the pole at VIR Rolex GT race.
The question is: how soon before the race organizers do something
to handicap the rotary engines yet again?

  I don't believe they will do anything too rash. Being that
the Grand Am Rolex series is all about endurance, driver capability
becomes more important than just car set-up. If anything, they may
adjust the rules for a permanent weight penalty on the RX8's in the
coming years. Just be glad Max Mosely can't touch Grand Am.

The organizers  have already limited the race RX8 eng. max RPM to no less than 500
RPM below the street car engine red line limit. That is ridiculous. Who
ever heard of limiting a race car eng. red line to below the red line
on a street car engine? This is not to mention the 100 pounds of ballast
they are forced to carry.

Unhindered and un handicapped the RX8 would run away with it at all the races.
There is no beating a high power to weight ratio reliable
engine like the Mazda rotary. This Mazda 3 rotor engine is going on
15 years old.  Mazda has not made any since 1993.
