The Mazda RX8's are one two on the pole at VIR Rolex GT race.
 The question is: how soon before the race organizers do something
 to handicap the rotary engines yet again?

It has to do with who strokes the SCCA best...spelled Porsche.

No Doubt about it. Porsche has a lot of pull.
What I can't figure out is how all the RX8's wound up in the back of
the pack after a yellow pit stop mid race. Sylvain in the 70 found
himself dead last and worked all the way back up to second at this
point that I am watching now. He passed about one or two cars per lap.

Paul,
SCCA PRO didn't like our Audi's quatro system either. made us carry  a bunch
of lead, and even told us where we had to put it so we couldn't use it to
help our wieght bias issues.
Keeping them from adding more lead ballast was a constant challenge. At that
time they even made us run the 2 valve 2.8 liter engine instead of the 5
valve version. Claimed we couldn't run the 5 valve because the other
manufacturers only had 4 valve heads. We beat those poor 2 valve motors to
death keeping up with the Acura and BMW 4 valve motors.
