hey guys, just wondering if you could help me out;
i was wondering if the 1981 rx7 front strut assembly is a 2 piece,
meaning, can i remove the insert and just replace that or do i
have to replace the entire assembly, and if so whats the best way to do
it
thanks
Ssgt Rich
Rich,
different shock companies sold them both ways. the big shock guys like
monroe and the like only sell the whole strut, but some of the performance
versions had you cut the top off the strut and insert a cartrige.
Both styles are probably still available, so it comes down getting the
shocks for what you are going to use the car for. Whole struts are easier to
install.
If your not doing any hardcore performance driving, the KYB's are a great
shock.
For more performance, go with Koni, or Bilstine.

hey larry, thanks, i ran into a problem with that, it seems that
everyone is selling the cartridge inserts, but racing beat still
has some kyb fully assembled struts so i might have to go that
way. do you know if the stock strut can be opened up though
