Has anybody successfully made crude oil out of alligators?

I am beginning to suspect you are playing the devils advocate. Again:)
The base of Mt. Everest is almost nine kilometers miles down.  Drilling
down several more kilometers fossilizes remains of sea creatures would
still be encountered.  A more important question is, how many joules of
energy does it require to create a liter of gasoline?  Assume no
microbes are involved. Just heat, pressure and chemical reactions from
wellhead to gas pump.  To be fair factor in all the infrastructure
required to do this.  It is surprising to realize how much of the US
economy is tied into the financing, producing, regulating, transporting
and use of oil derived products.
