Does anyone have any information on the Stock RX-8 Intake system? (6 Port
Engine)

Such as when the valves that vary the length of the intake system open or
close and
how these are controlled, I am assuming the computer normally does this
just how it does it, eg
pulsed signal or simply powers them on, In my application I do not need
to replace the intake
system, we have sufficient space, however I'm using one of Tracy's EC-3
and EM-3 Computer
systems, it would be nice to be able to control the valves to some extent
to maybe optimize the
intake air flow to something that would provide better power & fuel
economy based on the engine RPM

I thought that maybe a simple trigger system might be a fair compromise to
do this using the approximate
points that Mazda uses to vary the manifold length in a similar way that
they do.

Any thoughts on doing this?

Yes I do David. Here it is. This is for the six port high power version.
I do not have anything for the four port low power version.
Most valves are controlled by vacuum except the sleeve valves inside
the end housings are controlled by an electric motor.
