Paul it should be mentioned that the oil injector drive isn't
big enough to run a mechanical fuel injection pump.
Heck it is barely big enough to run the oil injector pump! That
isn't intended as a criticism, only that the oil pump needs only
pump about 1/100th of the volume needed by a fuel injector pump.
Most mechanicals run a toothed belt from the crank. Some of the
sprint cars have a special front cover and drive from the cam
drive.

Back in 1965 Chevy built a Corvette with a simple mechanical fuel
injection. As I recall the gear pump was driven off the distributor
drive shaft. Kind of like a mechanical tachometer cable.
If the injection pressure is low enough the RX8 metering pump
drive might work.
