        I read your articile about the
3350s, the B-29s had a 3350
corncob eng as they called it and it wasn't a turbo
compound engine. It had a lot of teething problems during
its
life and the Confederate Air Force has found that on
FIFI. They are looking for later 3350 engines to hang on
the
wings.  I seen 4360,s engines on C-119s but no turbo
compound engines on those things.   Was a
real intersting
article.

The consensus is the 4 row R4360 was called corn cob
engine
and not the two row R3350. The basic turbo charged R3350
engine was used
in the B29. It was not converted to turbo compound
configuration
until after the war was over as far as I know.

Apparently only some version of the C119 had the turbo
compound
version of the R3350.
