These are designed to be a repairable seal for the outer part of the water
jacket. Just unscrew them and reapply sealant if you get a leak. Welding the
SS tube to the steel rotor housing liner solved the inner seal problems.
Clean up the rotor housing with a die grinder to make it a smooth curve and
fit the plate. You can grind on the plate too if you need to.
You can also do this in a mill with the housing mounted in the mill ready to
be bored. This speeds the process as a small end mill can be used to remove
excess material.
Use the four holes as pilot holes to drill (#7) and tap the rotor housing
outer wall for four 1/4 20 or 24 socket head machine screws. After that is
done drill out the four holes in the sealing plate to 1/4 inch.
It will then be bolted to the housing and the 2 inch p-port hole bored in
the plate and in the housing. This is to insure that everything fits after
the SS tubes are welded in. This works on 13B and RX8 p-port engines.
After the SS tubes are installed and welded in this part will be unbolted
and coated with red RTV on the bottom side to seal the OD of the tube to
the outer housing water jacket. Bolt the plate back on and your done. You
can also pot the water jacket with Devcon Aluminum Liquid (F-2) 10710 or JB
Weld. Not necessary with this plate but it won't hurt.
They are ten dollars each. Two weigh 3/4 of a pound so send a tough envelope
with your mailing address on it along with enough postage to pay for
mailing. They are 2.5 inches wide by 2.75 inches long and 3/4 of an inch
thick. We mail only in the US. Slip a US 20 dollar bill in the envelope.
I don't want to deal with checks or credit cards. Sorry! I have better
things to do other than book keeping, shipping and handling.
Been there done that :) It also lowers the cost to you.

I have a guy at the airport that will do the 2 inch hole cutting and block
fitting for you so let me know if you want that done on your rotor housings.
Cost would be roughly $150 to $200 for each housing. He has done several for
me in the past.

Paul--
Questions from a Newbie----Does your "guy at the airport" also do
the welded SS tubes to complete the creation of the P-Ports? Are these the
same holes drilled out to make the p-port holes? ANY idea what he would be
might be willing to charge for the cost of the p-port process installation
along with the sealing and installation of these sealing plates? A lot of
us have neither the equipment nor sufficient knowledge to accomplish these
task. {:>((

Unfortunately right at the moment I do not have a reliable tig welder.
We have a person at SZP that is a very talented tig welder but he
is hard to find and he keeps telling me how he hates welding.
Naturally that does not inspire confidence that I will find him when
I need him. He just disappears for awhile for no apparent treason.
Finding a good tig welder locally is on my short list of things
to do. However welding the SS tube to the steel liner turns out to
be a lot easier than one would think. I could probably do it myself
as I have a tig machine but I am way out of practice.
At this point it would be better for you to fit the SS tube and
find a tig welder near you. Here is a youtube How To.
You can buy junk housings from Mazdatrix to practice on.
Last time I checked they were $30. I'll call Mazdatrix tomorrow
and see if they are interested in doing the complete job.
