Any 13bs for sale? Side housings?

I don't know if the irons can be re-lapped?

I'm really bummed out.

Mazdatrix can relap them. What year is the engine?

Let me guess, you bought the engine from Dave Atkins.

Not sure who Dave Atkins is, but I bought this from an outfit out of New
Jersey, can't recall the name at the moment. Have to dig through records.
They advertise heavily on eBay.
So since the engine had only one turbo, it must be '85-92 vintage.
Now here is a question for the experts, since I'm not going turbo, and we
are P-porting, won't any 13b rotor housing work? Or were there other
differences that are more subtle.
C. Smith

Just about any 13B rotor housing will work.
The later the better up to 2003.
Best if it is a 89 or later.

This may have come up over the years but I'm still uncertain how to tell the
difference between rotor housing vintages.  Is there some definitive way to do
so, outside of removing a whole engine and knowing the year vehicle it came
from?  I've looked in the manuals and on the spare housings in my shop but
nothing stands out (like a casting stamp ID number). Is it one of those deals
where you have to know when side window designs changed on a Mooney so you can
tell its vintage from a distance?

Thanks,

Jack Hilditch

There are subtle difference Jack. Mainly around the spark plug
region. A knock sensor boss was added above the spark plugs around 1991.
Some machining was done on the ribs around the spark plugs bosses
around 1988 on the turbo engines. The RX8 has the steam vents as well
as the spark plug boss machining. Nothing that has made a noticeably
difference. I think it is mostly theoretical.
