Speaking of 130 HP rotaries Jeff Doddridge
there is a market for a light weight low cost one rotor
Mazda based engine. So far most small rotaries have been
charged cooled which has not worked out in heavy duty aircraft
service. The Norton based designs are fan forced air cooled rotors
which increases the fuel burn but appears to work fine
in motor gliders.

The 50 HP Midland/Austro Norton one rotor based engines
have been used in about 500 motor gliders so far. Austro Engines
is working on a scaled up 75 HP version.
