To whomever is interested:

 Turbocharged direct fuel injection is the coming way to reduce
fuel consumption to fit the new EPA rules.  Many of the new high
end cars have it now.   The new Ford Taurus SHO has it.

The EcoBoost's twin turbochargers are capable of 205,000 rpm, so
they spin up fast without turbo lag.  With the the direct spray
fuel injectors, the fuel is delivered  directly into the
cylinders at 3000 psi.   The fuel is atomized to create fine
droplets that average 15 microns in size.  It also has a cooling
effect that allows denser air into the combustion chamber for
maximum power.

The injector pump is a crank driven variable displacement
plunger style.  There is a cam on the crank shaft.


The injector pump, part No 9350, has a retail price of $360.
The piezo- electric injectors, part No. 9F593 are $206 each.
