Paul,
this file is proven bolt hole positions based on cmm data for bell
housing.
It appears the low power rx8 engine may have a different rear plate.
With the plate being cnc machined, I would make several versions based
on the housing they are using.
Easy enough, once the programs are written.

Yes I think you are right. I suspect the only difference is down on the
left side
where the auto tx starter is located. There is a bell housing bolt
missing.
No problem for us as that bolt can be left out.
The latest RX8 low power auto tx engines appear to
be the same as the high power version. I cannot confirm this yet.
The change occurred around 2006 I think.

Larry, I see you have the RX8 rear end housing extra bolt hole
in there. Did you digitize an RX8 end housing. If you are confident
in this location no need for us to reinvent the wheel. Looks good to
me. Can you or Jeff send me a thin steel (low expansion) metal plate
with a large (13 inch) hole in it to clear the starter ring gear that I
can
use to check the fit on a real RX8 engine? Perhaps Mazdatrix
has a late model RX8 auto tranny version or even a RX8 manual tranny
version I can check it against. Mazdatrix is a lot closer than Escondido
:)
Jeff please check these dimensions against the last 3D I sent
for the extra RX8 top bolt hole. I have lots of confidence in what
Larry does.

Paul,
We measured the hole position distance from the common hole up on top
next
to it. All holes are 7.164 from center (that is the magic number), so we
only needed one dim to get it.
All other holes were taken on the cmm direct from a rear housing.
If you wanted to go to your engine and measure the center to center dim
between the top 2 holes, I will check my model and get back to you.
Seems to
me we were pretty confident in this number before.

Not all holes are on the 7.164 radius.
There is at least one on the 13B that is
7.085 on the lower right in dwg #2 attached.
I was worred that the RX8 hole was not on the
7.164 radius but it looks like it might be.
I'll see what I can do about measuring it.
I have to get a couple of short 100 mm screws
with the right thread.

Yes. I am on my way out to the hangar to measure the distance
between the top two holes as per Larry's suggestion. I'll buy
the radius being the same as there is no reason to change it up
there.
If there is a problem it will show up in the template.
