OK, that makes more sense.  I'll use 8.93 and 11.21".

Thanks,
Mark

Paul,

I have one question regarding the oil galley o-rings.  I measured those at
.628" ID, .862" OD, and the o-ring cross-section (which had taken a set and
was oval-shaped) at .065" - .085" , so that would average out to .075".
 Does
this sound correct?  I counted 12 of these, but may order a couple of
extras.

Does McMaster sell the tension bolt seals?

Thanks,
Mark

Here is the Creavey chart. Look at the groove dimensions and the squeeze
and choose the one that works the best. The depth of the slot in the rotor
housings is .070.
The width is 8.62--.628 = .234 / 2 = .117" wide.
The controlling factor would be the squeeze so my guess would be a section
diameter of 0.093. There is plenty of room laterally for it to expand.

If you talk to Jeff ask him if he makes O-rings in metric sizes.

Yes. McMaster Carr key words "Metric sealing washers". Tracy was passing
out plain washers with O-rings and hoping for the best :)

It's hard to tell from the McMaster sketch, but the sealing washers appear
to only have rubber in the hole, not on the underside like the ones Mazda
uses.  The Mazda washers have a conical sealing area that fit into a chamfer
in the end housing.  So, I have to wonder how they would make a seal between
the bolt hole and underside of the washer.  Maybe adding an o-ring would
suffice, but I would rather use something closer to the Mazda washer.  I'll
take a close look at the ones that came off the engine and see if they're
good enough to reuse.   The price is right though.

Thanks for the o-ring chart.  I agree that .093" should work.

Put a little RTV under them. They seem to work as is as we have used them before.
The tensile load on the tension bolt is so high any minor imperfection on the bottom or top surface of the washer, that might cause leaks, would probably be crushed. Cast iron is rather soft as well. Sealing washers on AN straight thread fittings work that way.
