Greetings all and happy new year,

What  are the disadvantages of straight pipes out of the engine without
muffler for a Renesis engine--??
I understand that the exhaust noise  is less than prior rotaries.

This will be for a cozy so the  noise will be in back of me.

Rich

I have never  heard an RX8 engine straight pipe. It might be OK at
a non noise  sensitive airport.

I haven't heard one  with a fish tail end pipe... but the bridgeported 12A
gyroplane without the  muffler was an intolerable screaming banshee...
everyone in the county  behind the tailpipe knew I was making horsepower!!
My Lightspeed ANR  headsets weren't enough to calm the beasty in flight...
of
course, I was 6'  in front of the tailpipe without any type of enclosure
though!!  My  panel label on the throttle read, "Volume" !!!

I loved that  banshee!!

So the lack of back pressure will have no deleterious effects??

Rich

Au contraire. Back pressure is evil.
