Hey Paul,
I was reading some of the "tech tips" on the racing beat website and wanted
to ask your opinion about theirs recommendations for "Race Clearancing of
Rotors" and "Double Side Seal Springs". I had heard of Rotor Clearancing
previously but not the use of 2 springs under each side seal. What do you
think about these mods for aviation applications where the engine will run
at a continuously between 6000-7000 ?
Don
The racers are running the engines to 11,000 RPM with well over
300 HP available in two rotor form.
450 to 500 HP is rather common in street turbo charger form. The
really fast guys are getting 800 to 900 HP out of a two rotor
running alcohol and NOS.
In our case the engine is loafing. We could not afford the
fuel burn of a 300 HP engine. BSFC would be about .52 to .53
or 159 pounds per hour or about 25 gallons an hour.
At say an optimistic 250 mph that would be 10 miles per gallon :)
BTW did you try to load that email file I sent in Outlook Express?
