I must have been asking for the wrong thing when I called Pep Boys because
 they quoted me $120.00 for the "ingition module" and Advantage Auto quoted
 $320.00. That is why I tried the junk yard

Karibian, I looked up prices on the internet. One site I bought parts from
on E-bay was "boost engineering". I looked them up on google and the
ignition module as I recall was  $36.95 The price on E-bay for the coil
packs was $69.95  for 6 coils and less for 4 coils.  There are several
companies on E-bay selling complete kits for about $74 with tested salvage
yard parts. The coil packs are actually individual coils, sort of like coil
on plug but only one mount for the set. For an 8 plug set up Ford used two
4
coil packs, one on the front of each cylinder head.You might check with a
ford dealer to see what they charge for an EDIS controller.

Karibian,   One other thing, If you use one EDIS the two lower plugs are in
series and the upper ones are connected in series. This is because the two
eccentrics are 180 degrees apart and when one rotor is set to fire the other
is finishing the exhaust stroke. This would not be a redundant system and
would not have an early and late firing of a rotor. A four cylinder [4 cycle] piston
engine fires two cylinders per revolution as does a rotary and two on the
next revolution which means 180 degrees between plug firing on both
engines.The lead plugs timing could be run thru the ECU for the variable
timing and the redundant ignition fixed timing for the trailing plugs.
