DOS hard drive. It came from Kays & London and
I would have to send you the book to explain
how the effectiveness was calculated :)

Good going. Nice addition to the "Cooling" Chapter 12 you sent
several years ago.
Cross counter flow radiators must be designed with the increase in water
pump back-pressure in mind. Short and wide is a good rule. In trying to
stay with standard C&R single row core thickness, my latest drawings
indicate a core area 20" wide by 16.5" long by 2.9" thick will fit
nicely. Total 957 cubic inch. The connecting tank between the top and
bottom and adds an inch and the end tanks one and one half inches. I
wonder if the end tanks can be tapered? Top tapered in the opposite
direction to the bottom? This saves a little weight and could improve
flow distribution, maybe:)
Since I have conceded to mounting the water heat exchanger under the
engine, I have two ways to do it now. Horizonal and free exhaust to
ambient through blinds, or ducted exhaust to low pressure area under
the cowl with a contoured flap. I prefer the latter as the heat
exchanger can be tilted closer to perpendicular, further back, and have
a more efficient inlet design. Getting the outlet curve correct will l
need some testing but the because of bottom cowl shape the negative
pressure around the outlet should make the unit suck well.
