Subject: gasket help

I have an '04 renesis (4 port automatic) engine. I can't  seem to locate an
oil pan gasket for it.

Did this  engine use a gasket or just silicone?? If no gasket, is it
desirable  to use a silk thread such is used in Lycoming and Continental
engine
1/2s. Also what is the best sealant to use  here??

Thanks

Rich

I don't  know.

Silk thread won't work on a steel oil pan due to the  depressions.
Go easy on the silicone as it could clog the oil  intake
if some got loose in the pan. MacMaster Carr sells
sheet gasket material so you can cut your own.

Permatex "Ultra Grey" rigid high-torque RTV silicone gasket  maker did the
job for me always, perfectly. Just a bit difficult to take  off the oil pan
later without bending it.

Thanks all!!!

Rich,

Tighten in two steps.  First only to make contact, then wait 24 hrs and
tighten again.

Thanks,
Mark
