Hello Paul & group,

I promised to make a 45 min aircraft rotary prensentation for the winter
meeting of our local EAA equivalent. I have about six weeks to put it
together.

I thought to address this from the viewpoint of builder, thus the
salient points could be:

- How much there is 'em? Flying and being built? (Tracy's PSRU sales?)
Several hundred.

- How much accumulated flight hours? What's highest? Experience?
up to 2400

- Likely MTBO, MTBF
3000 hours

- Compatibility with 100LL/autogas/heavily ethanol-blended gas (>=10%)
anything depending on what the fule tank is made of

- Installation weight, price, power, consumption
320 pounds fire wall foreward +/- 20 2rotor. 420 pounds 3 rotor.

- Noise and vibration
High noise 100 db 30 feet away. Depends on muffler. Low vibration.

- Models: 100/200/300+ hp, Rotax 912/O-200, IO-360, IO-540 equivalents,
250 HP 2 rotor. 375 HP 3 rotor. Both p-port.

-weight, price & consumption comparison.
see above. Price  $5000 2 rotor  $10,000 3 rotor. BSFC .47 cruise

What's our current knowledge of these issues? Please comment.

If we can come up with something like presentation kit, it would be
easier for everyone to keep one.

Hi Petri,
Beg, borrow, or steal Mark S.'s power point presentation on the rotary.
It is excellent, well organized, and easy to present.
Run through the presentation at home several times, you'll need to trim it to be 45 minutes.
Hard copy each screen so while your assistant worries about advancing the
computer's projections you can view the copy and keep eye contact with your audience and field
questions as they come up. AND QUESTION YOU, THEY WILL ; )
Show and tell parts are great especially if you can show an e-shaft, an auto
crankshaft, and a Cont or Lyc crank all at the same time and note to
the members which of the three looks hefty enough to bet your life on!
A word of caution, most EAA's are firmly rooted in Cont and Lyc engines.
DO NOT badmouth Cont or Lyc, you'll only alienate most of your audience.
Tell the rotary story on facts and let the listeners make their own conclusions.
( But, it's OK to bash conventional auto engines ; )
I made this presentation a year ago and I'm still the rotary "go to " guy.
