Contemplating elimination of the center plate in a 13-B P-ported engine,
bolting the rotor housings together, machining an aluminium rotor (which
would be twice the thickness of a regular rotor).

Perceived Advantages:

   - Weight reduction by elimination of the center plate
   - Weight reduction by shortening the rotor shaft
   - Weight reduction by going from cast iron rotors to an Aluminum rotor
   - Reduction of friction form the side seals
   - Given the reduction in the weight of the rotor itself. . . less rotor
   shaft flex.
   - Simplified timing (the spark plugs would fire at the same time.)
   - Weight reduction could be swapped out for a compound turbo.
   - A "4 rotor" version of the engine could be manufactured
   - If needs be, the rotors could be assembled from two halves.
   - Some parts, such as side seals and corner seals would be eliminated.
   - The engine would be a couple of inches shorter than the traditional
   engine, which may contribute to more space under the cowl of items such as
   radiators.

Perceived Challenges or Concerns:

   - Oil flow/cooling the rotor
   - Will existing apex seals function or would new ones need to be
   manufactured to span the new width?

Does anyone see any flaws on this?

It is like a 2.6 liter 160 ci 2 cylinder four stroke engine.
The 400 foot pound torque pulse once per rev should destroy
just about anything you connect it to.
