That statement doesn't seem to be limited to automotive piston engines,
Lycomings do a pretty good job failing with "materials used for continuous power".
Isn't that why we're playing with rotarys?

Lycomings are good rotaries are better.
We have enough experience with Lycomings that we know we need to
inspect them for cracks at 2000 hours.
