I am looking at transforming an old CNC mill and was wondering
what you are referring to with your use of "ACRE". I googled it,
the results were indefinite.
I read of your work on cnczone.com, and hope to soon begin my own.

ACRE used to mean AirCraft Rotary Engine but we changed the name
to Rotary Engine NewsLetter.

My NC mill is not coming along as fast as  I would like.
Once you learn how to do it I will pay you big bucks to live
in a free apartment above my hangar fifteen  minutes from the beach
to upgrade mine. I have most of what I need. I am just missing
the encoders. I need to buy them and make ball screw mounts on my lathe
for the Kasuga table.

Tom in Albuquerque has on just like mine working fine.
In fact he made some of the slide throttle parts for me on it.

Sounds like you have the hard part done. Mounting the ball
screws should'nt be too tough.  Seems to me it is mostly
about driving the servos accurately.  That is where I am at
in my own learning.

I spent 3 years working in an aerospace machine shop in
Huntington Beach about 20 years ago so I am familiar with
this sort of equipment.  The shop had a single 8' bed punch
tape machine at first; and a newer cnc lathe, along with
the usual Bridgeport mill etc...

I essentially lived in Ventura for 2 years while I
remodeled a few houses just south of the state beach.  The
owners; recording moguls; wanted me to stay in their homes
while the work was in progress to keep beach vagrants out.

I have been considering pulling up roots and moving to
Santa Paula to begin to build an aircraft and continue my
work of restoring early Porsches.  Some of the guys at the
Van Nuys EAA said that Santa Paula is a good place to set
up to build an aircraft.

Your offer to employ me to assist in finishing up your
Kasuga is in line with my my own direction at present.  I
have two, soon to be three, babies.  How big is your
upstairs space?  My Filippina wife is easy going enough she
might like it.  My babies love airplains.  They scream out
at them every time one flys over my house, which is about
20 times a day.

Oxnard is'nt so far away. Driving there for a few
days/weeks may work out.  I've driven to Ventura and
Carpenteria hundreds of times.

The up stirs has a lot of boxes in it making
it just suitable for one person camping.

Yes the hard part is done. It was an NC mill
to start with I am just changing the controller
and software.

It would be helpful if I were to go see your set up in
order to visualize the work that needs to be done.  I
will be free in two to three weeks while one of my
cars is being advertised. During and after this sale,
I will be able to crunch the numbers on the mill project.
I am going to look for a Kasuga machine similar to
yours, if for no other reason, than to simplify the task.

OK Ed keep me informed. If you find one close by I'll be glad
to take a look. I paid $7,000 but it had a functioning
tool changer. I think Tom paid a lot less for his.
