 Paul,

 Can you walk me through this process.  I have the ZX board connected via
 USB.  (jumper J19 changed to USB; SW3 set to USB; FT232R s/w downloaded.
 Board appears to be working (green LED flashed a few times and the red
 LED
 is on steady.  Got message that device has been configured.  However, I
 never saw the "Hello..." message.

 How do I proceed.  I've opened the ZBasic IDE program and it appears to
 be
 running.  The compression-test1.bas is showing.  Where do I go from here?

 Update...

 I compiled the compression-test1.bas and got this error:

 Any suggestions?

 Go into the options menu scroll down to device options
 and type ZX-1280n in the target device window.

 OK, I had initially downloaded the latest version, but went back and
 downloaded the self executing driver.  Then, as you state above,I changed
 device options to ZX-1280n, pressed "Reset",  I then tried to compile and
 got this message,

I tried typing in the sample program on pg 1 & 2 of the manual that flashes
the red and green LEDs.  I compiled it and got the same error message as I
got with your program, i.e. Error: one or more errors occurred in the
back-end build process for "FlashLED.zxb".  So, the problem may be
something
more generic.  I'll try looking through the manual for some guidance.

I just discovered something Mark. Sometimes for some strange reason
the USB interface shuts off. There is no indication when this happens
other than when you select go nothing goes out in the lower
window. The trick is quit the IDE with everything hooked up
and re execute the IDE. It then reestablishes the USB connection.
 I am not sure this is your problem but this had me stumped for a
couple of hours.
