I bought an IBM Think Pad 25640 about
5 or so years ago. It is a really nifty little notebook
computer but it did not have a CD reader.
I bought a PackBack Micro-Solutions PCMCI
CD read writer for it. I need it to run
windows only data aq software.

I had a Windows 2000 and I wanted to upgrade from
Windows 98. I got most of the way through
and Windows 2000 could not access the PackPack
to finish installing. In fact it disable the Back Pack
and wanted the original 3.5 inch floppy disk that came with the
computer. I can't find it so now I am screwed.

So typical of windows. Linux does not care what you do
and you can always just download a copy of the OS.

One does not get new OS's on floppy's anymore.

I guess the Think Pad is now junk.

If you buy a new computer tape the O.S. disk that came
with it (if any) to the cover. Many times the Micro Shit O.S. does
not come with the computer. If something happens your SOL.
What a mess.

Too bad people are still selling software that only
runs on Windows.

If somebody has the 3.5 inch Think Pad floppy please copy it
and send it to me. I will reward you.

Can you access the Bios screen? Try to re-tree the boot path to
only your CD, and try to load the OS again. Sometime there's other
stuff you can do in the bios set-up as well, like initialize and
primary format of the hard drive, then try the boot from cd and
load OS. Hard to know what else can be done, without a think pad
of my own to poke at. You might also try pulling the floppy cable,
and see it that helps.

That won't work as Windows 2000 does not see the CD.
Floppy cable is not connected. It may be I could put the CD
Windoze 2000 CD driver on the floppy drive and try that. Promising.

I know its long but it is a link to drivers for a think pad 560 "2640 xxx"
series
it may not be the right model theres normally more in the model number,
its normally on the bottom of the computer.

however IBM/lenovo keep nearly every model and drivers online
this can be quite handy.
