There was a liquid cooled starter/generator shown on the web a couple weeks
ago, does any one still have the details?

You have got to appear like Government Motors :)

I think the whole idea has fallen into disfavor as
I think GM tried to use them as a hybrid motor.
It made a piss poor hybrid.

If you build them strong enough to act as a hybrid motor
they are too expensive to use as an alternator/starter.

Classic case of defective economic green blindness :)

IMHO the same thing will happen to the Volt.

Paul,

Mention anything to do with hybrid cars and you get on
your soapbox:)  Did you actually read about the technology?
In motor mode it makes a fair starter for auto starts at
stop lights.  SR technology has its advantages in this
case as in alternator mode it can have a huge output.
170 amps.  The market is indicating their will be more
not less applications within the automobile that can
use electricity.

I hate electricity :)
I have been contacted several times over the years to test
electric cars. Some were charlatans. Some were major American
car manufactures. None were worth a damn :)
Designed by people that don't understand cars and why people
love them. Do you get the BBC TV program Top Gear in Japan?
Now those people understand cars.
