 The firewall forward weight is about 325 pounds for the low cost
 stock cast iron end housing 2 rotor RX8 250 HP p-port engine version.
 If you buy Racing Beat aluminum end housings the cost for the engine
doubles
 to around $6000 and the weight goes down to around 275 pounds fire wall
 forward.

 Now for a little bit more weight out Mazdatrix is
 offering a seventeen 1/2 inch titanium tension bolt modification that
 makes the block ten times stronger. (In case you need a 400 HP
 turbo engine :)) These bolts solve another problem for engines
 that run at constant RPM. What happens is the long tension bolt
 sometimes vibrate like a violin string and crack and break in the root
 of the threads were they screw into the front end housing.

 Happens rather rarely and is usually prevented by coating
 the bolts with silicone rubber. When seventeen 1/2 inch bolts
 are installed they fit very closely so they cannot vibrate.
 They also act as seventeen dowel pins making the engine
 cannon proof.

 Now if you only want 120 HP or so you can get this guy to build
 you a one rotor P-port with or without aluminum end housing. Firewall
 forward weight is well over 200 pounds for a cast iron version
 and may be 160 to 170 pounds firewall forward for the aluminum
 end housing version.

-- I have a single rotor 13b with iron end housings.  Recently weighed
everything forward of the firewall, including propeller and engine
mount.  273 lbs.  Hoping for considerably less weight, so have
disassembled the engine, weighed individual components and made plans
for a serious diet (for the engine).  So far, have shed a few pounds by
eliminating the prop adapter plate (Ivo), and removing considerable
metal from the oil pump cover plate.  P-porting will save a little
weight with the intake manifold.  Will spring for aluminum end housings,
a lightweight alternator, a smaller starter, and lighter coolant
plumbing.  Also found some weight savings in the engine mount and oil
tank.  In the end, hoping for 120 hp and 220-225 lbs firewall forward.
