What are the FAA maintenance rules for purchased experimental
aircraft?

Suppose you make a major change? Do you become
the builder and have to fly off the 40 hours?

I'm not an expert, but I thought that the only guy to do other than routine
maint on an experimental was the guy who built it and holding the repairmans
certificate. There may be another way to get the repairmans certificate though,
I just don't know what it is. Don't have my library in front of me, check with
EAA or your local FAA guy.
