Was there ever a provision for a mechanical diaphragm style fuel pump
on a Mazda rotary?  Suitable for filling a carburetor float bowl?  I
looked through on line catalogs for early Mazda rotary powered
vehicles, and only found electric pumps listed.  Is there a place to
put a fuel pump eccentric on the engine?

I had one of the earliest cars in 1973 and it had an electric pump.
It would have to be belt driven.

'73 RX3 and then a '71 R100, both had electric fuel pumps. The R100 only had
40# compression so I had to do a "smoky"; poured a bit of oil down the carb.
It would stall if it got below 1500RPM. Finally put an RX2 top starter engine in.
