Hi  Paul,  picture of Popples Corner, border of QLD,SA & NT, Australia,
 is not in the original position because the survey chain had become worn
 so the links were not exactly 7.92" long or whatever they are (I cannot
 remember the exact length of the links) so the boundary was not exact.
 However they had agreed on a longitude, the other picture is exactly on
 the boundary of the NT and QLD.

Hi   Paul,   I know you like seeing inland Australia, try looking up
www.abc.net.au/deluge   a story about the rain in inland Australia
during the past three years, yhey think Lake Eyre might even overflow
this time, which will be the first time since white man has been in
Australia. You might have to google it as I am not sure the address is
correct, it was on the ABC 1 TV tonight.

One drawback to living in an area that has low population density
is the lack of tax money needed to build flood control infrastructure.

Weather is changing around the world and we are seeing some of it
in rainy So Cal this year. I am not saying it is caused by anything
man has done. I think it is just one of the many weather cycles the
world has gone through in the last million years.

We are getting a lot of rain this year but so far the river has not
gone up. Here are some old pictures from several years ago of flooding
in my back office when we were living in the hills. SZP was nearly wiped
out a couple of years ago. Tracy gets flooded out every now and then
too.

I'd like to spend some more time flying around in the outback.
It might be cheaper loading my RV4 in a container and shipping
it rather than rent. I find the outback fascinating.

Hi  Paul,  If anyone overseas wanted to see inland Australia green, this
is the year, we had extensive flooding in the mid 1950's and in 1974 and
now, so I do not think any of us older blokes will see it happen again
in our lifetime, I was too young in the '50's to think about going, too
busy in the70's with young kids ect., but I am going to go this year.
         A good place to leave from is Charleville, Queensland, there
is a daily Qantas flight to/from Brisbane, www.qantas.com.au, plus a
twice weekly air service thru here from Brisbane to Birdsville and Mt.
Isa by Skytrans,  www.skytrans.com.au . There is a local charter company
in town here called South West Air Service, www.outbackairtours.com
flying a Cessna 210 Peter Wade, knows all of the area like the back of
his hand, another charter bus company, cannot think of their name at the
moment run tours by small bus (10 to 20) pax from Charleville. Any time
after April thru to about September,the weather is cool plus all the
water will be down into the lakes.
        As a aside the U S army had a air base here in Charleville
during WW11 for a couple of years.
        I think your idea of putting your plane in a container would
be the cheapest way, you have a "captive" FAA engineer to sign it off
when assembled do you not? you would not have to worry about  getting a
Australian license to fly Australian aircraft. I remember a Mr.
Stahmann, he was from California I think, used to fly a Aero Commander
on "N" rego out of Toowoomba for years, he had a Australian bloke who
had a FAA engineer's license who used to maintain it for him. Mr.
