 Since signing up for your news letter, I have been totally enthralled

 the info about this fantastic engine.
 I will definitely be using one for my next homebuilt.

 However, I am being inundated by repeat emails on the same subject.
 Every email is being sent to me three or four times.
 Is there any way I can set up my email account or anything else I can
 do so
 that I only receive each email only once?

 It does appear that way. We do things a bit differently than most.
 We  attach  new  messages at the bottom of old messages so if you
 just look at the top you  don't see any differences.  You have to
 press the down arrow key to  see the  new  parts.

 We started that 12 years ago to preserve the chronological order
 and  all the information on a particular subject. This gets new
 comers up  to speed quickly.

 The minor down side is it takes
 a bit more space on a hard drive but hard drive size has exploded over
 time.
 Back in the early days 20 meg (20,000,000) was a typical hard
 drive.  Now 100  gig
 (100,000,000,000) drives are typical. If my arithmetic is right
 that is  5000 times larger. A typical plain text  message is only 1,
 000 bytes so a  typical hard drive will hold 100 million messages. A
 drop in the ocean.

 It is a bit like our average wage compared to the U.S. national
 debt:)

 New drives are pushing 1000 times larger than that.

 My suggestion is make thread folders on your hard drive and save
 the last  messages in a thread to that along with any pictures.
 Another way is make  dated inbox folders and export your inbox
 periodically. Say every six  months.

 I make back ups of my inbox but I keep at least a years worth or more
 so I
 can
 easily search for subjects brought up in the past.

 I also use two 500 gig hard drives to keep a back up of everything
 as one  hard  drive could fail. That is easy to do if one chooses
 the right computer  box.  If you don't have the right box that can
 hold two hard drives one can buy  a USB external hard drive that
 will back up automatically. The minor down  side  is it slows you
 computer somewhat.

 I don't have a solution for the duplicate email problem,
 but I can tell you that there is something related to
 Windows 7 that is creating duplicate email messages.

 I run a UNIX mail server, and I have about 800 accounts
 on that server.  When I read the Rotary Engine Newsletter
 using Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista, I got one message
 for each post.  The same was true for several other email
 lists I subscribe to.  When I upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit
 with Outlook 2007, I get two copies of the Rotary Engine
 Newsletter for each one sent.  I also get two copies of
 each message from anyone that is using a recent version
 of Mailman to support an email list (older versions of
 Mailman do not generate duplicates).

 Why this is happening, I have no idea.  I have traced
 email through my server and I can state with confidence
 that the problem is not with the sending servers (like
 Rotary Engine).  I believe this is an Outlook 2007 issue
 and I am in the process of building a test harness to
 verify it.  Whether I can eliminate it is another issue.
 It may be related to the fact that I have multiple email
 addresses that flow through the same mailbox ... it is a
 starting point to evaluate.  Just thought I would pass
 this along so others know where to focus their efforts
 in solving this problem.  Best,

 are you using?

 I suspect free Thunder Bird will work on Windows 7.
 One might try that.

 Hi  Paul,  I use free Thunderbird on Windoze 7 works well, just at first
 it used to put my replies at the bottom so after a bit of to-fro it got
 quite messy, however, now I have changed and it puts the latest at
 the top, thanks to a computer nerd who told me how. I also use
 Firefox, the latest, I still have Explorer in case some stupid
 person uses the Windoze only for a web page.  John Burey

Hi Paul,

I am good with one mail at a time coming through. Firefox or Explorer.

I had to install Explorer 7 to use Chrysler's site for training.
Bloody funny
that a 25+ year mechanic is not qualified to do warranty repairs on
the crap
the engineers and BEAN COUNTERS screwed up in the first place. Note I
capitalized the latter as I believe they are probably the largest part
of the
problems. I guess this is progress.

Hi  Paul,  All yours come to me on the bottom of the list, I changed on
the others because someone said they thought I had just resent the same
message. But I only get one message not a repeat other than if I havent
looked at my emails for a while and it will appear as if as now I am
getting 3 emails but if I scroll to the bottom I will find that someone
has sent a message after someone else and its gone to the bottom of the
list.
