This is a shot of the inside of a Formula 1 cooling system.
Normally this is top secret stuff.

This verifies our contention that a large frontal area,
thin radiator is the way to go for low cooling drag.
Furthermore it uses the Kays & London oblique mounted,
wedge shaped diffuser to reduce the over all frontal area
of the vehicle as out lined in my book How to Cool Your Wankel.

Formula 1 teams spend million doing aerodynamic research
with just one team using as many as seven wind tunnels
working 24/7 on aerodynamic  development.

Paul,

One thing I notice from the picture addresses something I had
contemplated years ago.  There are two inlet lines and two outlet lines.
I had always wondered where and how the hot water flowed from the inlet
to the outlet.  It appears that they found it necessary for two inlets
to be sure the hot water gets dumped evenly into the inlet tank.  It
would be interesting to put thermocouples on each cross tube to see what
is actually happening with the flow.  My guess is that a few of the
tubes are doing the lion's share of the cooling.

Good idea.

Speaking of good ideas next time you are flying along set the pitch for
minimum and WOT. Note the RPM, the Map and airspeed.
Then dive 100 feet per minute and record again.
Then increase the dive to 200 FPM and record again.
This will tell you how close your prop tips are getting to the transonic
region absorbing most of the HP.
