Saw interesting engine in Dorsal Power magazine last nite.  Navistar and
Ecomotor developed test engine.  296 pounds 325 HP at 3500rpm torque
over 600 in low 2000s rpm.  Call OPOC Dorsal.  Opposed piston opposed
cylinder.  Struck me like the first time I saw the Wankle in Pop Mech.

Opposed pistons have been around for over 70 years. Not even close
to a Wankel.

Unlike rotary engines , I expect that it still has lots of vibration.. As you still have the piston to change direction to go back. One rotary advantage is it's smoothness.

10 years ago a met a prof from the university of Malta whose students were experimenting with variable displacement. Basically the engine,s cylinder height was altered according to the displacent needed. The same prof. Was one of the main people in developing VVT
