Boys and Girls,

I certainly don't understand all the ins and outs of clutch wear and
tear. However, I not sure how relevant most of the discussion has been
regarding Bud Warrens PSRU. The "clutch" system that he employed was a
"sprag" clutch, which operates quite differently from the usual
automotive clutch. The operating principal of the sprag is centrifugal
force, in that when sufficient engine RPM is reached, the CF causes the
clutch to "engage and lock up", until such time as the RPM drops enough,
ie: "engine shut down", that the prop then free wheels until it also
stops. I don't know at what RPM these actions occurred.

Regards to all, and thanks to the Rotary Engine Newsletter for being
such an excellent learning tool.

That is news to me. Last time I talked to him he was using a
complete automotive clutch with out the throw out mechanism.

The NTSB inspectors are pretty incompetent when it comes
to auto engines. We will have to wait to see what they say.
