Brian, Dave, help!

I can't seem to get this adjusted. If I leave the nuts slightly loose
there is zero friction in the aileron action.
If I tighten either the front or rear ball joint
nuts noticeable  friction is added to the control.

If this is described in the plans what page number?

BTW I changed Mike's bracket as I did not feel safe
with just a non locking jam nut on there with no
threads showing.

Well, i can't quite understand the situation from the pictures, but I
can say this, there should be no friction in the system from any of
those brackets, and the nuts should be secure.  Maybe missing a washer
or two?  It should be in the plans, though very occasionally you must do
things different than called out in the plans.

Have not seen drawings or pics, but where two bearings are used on a
single bolt, check that a spacer goes between them.

Paul,
I don't quite understand- where do you have friction- when you move the
stick laterally?

I am not sure where it was but I got it fixed today. Apparently the angle
of the bracket had something do do with it. I bent it down so the angle
was about 95 degrees and everything started working OK. Go figure.

  Hi  Paul,  I had made the comment that looking at the pictures it
appeared that the hole for the bolt appeared to be about the same
distance from the inside of the angle bracket as the old bracket if so
because the bracket is thicker it would put the centre of the clevis
further inboard.  re the closeup, where do you get L/H thread nylock
nuts for your L/H thread clevis?

I did not buy those. Mike Wills built the airplane and he is no longer
with us. The hole is slotted for adjustment.
