It occurred to me the current damper is not working as well as it should.
Rubber is just as incompressible as hydraulic oil and the current
rubber dampers are completely enclosed in the current design.
There is no room for them to distort and absorb the shock.

I think we need to copy the motor cycle style torque damper.
Making them round makes no sense. They should be more or less
cubes of rubber in housing large enough to distort.

I am working on a 3D for a new design. It will be similar to
this Yamaha design. We may be able to buy the rubber parts
from a motor cycle parts seller.

 Paul,

My EM-2 showed 27gph fuel flow on yesterday's takeoff roll.  I figure that's
about 325hp.  Please design the damper for 350hp, or more.

Thanks,
Mark S Tx

27 GPH is 162 pounds per hour assuming fuel weighs six pounds per gallon.
162 pounds per hour at a BSFC of .6 is 270 HP. I don't think you are
seeing 325 HP. What engine RPM was that? Manifold pressure?

At a leaned BSFC of .5 it would be 325 HP. Are you leaning while
taking off?

OK Mark. Here are some rubber parts I came up with.
I'll buy something and design around them using short peices of 4130 steel rectangular tubing from AC Spruce tig welded to our custom flex plate.

If the 4130 flex plate is water jet cut the rectangular holes in the flex
plate to locate the tubing are no problem.

Everybody that thinks they may want one of these things let me know
as it cost a few bucks to have the water jet program made. In other words one must make a quantity to keep the cost in check.
