To the American consumer, perception is reality.  Ask the typical
consumer about diesel engines.  They will say: Olds diesel, 1985.
They think development stopped then.  Most auto mfgs. have opted for
hybrids in the US because they have a better "image" than diesels and
they don't want to spend the time or dollars to change public opinion.
Sad state of affairs.

Another sad factor is the oil refineries in the U.S. are OLD and
modern European technology is better suited to producing a larger
percentage of diesel fuel to gasoline. Until we can grow a fuel
substitute, we will be importing more diesel fuel too.

Diesel is also great in VW Jettas with 2-liter turbo diesel engines
that give you 46 mpg while averaging 75 mph door-to-door from Irvine
to Vegas and back.

Diesel fuel is up to 50 cents more per gallon than gasoline.
That is the same as 40 MPG in a gasoline powered car.
Do you want to tow or do you want to go? :)

Can any of you diesel fanatics explain exactly how a diesel engine
accelerates? Not how well it accelerates.... how it functionally accelerates?
I will keep the explanations secret for a week and then publish them.
