There are plenty of EcoBoost V6 turbos in Ford products in the US. Audi has had DI 2 liter engines for a while now. Even Kia has DI. Delphi in Rochester NY, which I used to work for, haves the entire Hyundai direct injection program. Some of my friends are driving proto cars around the city as of right now and what a huge difference the DI system can make in power,emissions and milage. I used to sit at lunch with a couple folks from the DI group of which I talked shop with often and the hardest part about the DI system was droplet control. Those DI injectors are cool little things. The nozzles are machined with hi tolerances and laser welded to the rest of the injector. The high pressure pumps (2000 psi?) are run directly off the camshaft with a lobe.

What are these cars getting on the highway MPG?

The Ford flex is the only Ecoboost out right now and that is 21 MPG highway.
I am not impressed. The non di ford fiesta is 40 MPG highway.
