When I first saw Bud Warren's centrifugal clutch something in
the back of mind was trying to tell me he did not build it.
The parts looked too slick and too finished to be custom made.
I think I figured it out. They are stock parts out of Center Force
clutches. Of course Bud never talked about that.

Ironically I have one in my my RX8. I love it. It works great.
This will solve the gear box chatter problem if set up properly.
The question is how thick must be the flywheel? That will
affect the over all weight.
BTW I don't think it was the cause of Bud's fatal crash.

This application will eliminate gear box chatter on startup but I doubt
that it will do anything for low throttle landing approach work. I
think you're barking up the wrong tree if you think that you can
eliminate gear box chatter while still having the twirly part on the
front connected to the loud part on the back with the gear box in the
middle. Are you thinking of setting it up so that it can be disengaged
at low throttle? That might be a cool thing.
It should do a great job at eliminating the flex plate fatigue issues
with the addition of a few pounds of steel and associated accouterments.

Yes disengage below 1800 RPM. It worked for Bud.
He and others landed with it disengaged.
We land all the time with the engine RPM over 2000.
Prop at 900 RPM or below.
We still need the rubber so it will work with this.
