Paul,
Have you seen this?
http://www.mmsonline.com/articles/cam-system-proves-integral-to-prototype-prove-out
This is the first I've seen of this engine. I think the three shafts are
geared together with those big, straight cut spur gears seen in one of the
photos. If it works, it would be an interesting thing to put in a P-51
airframe.

Steve,
No idea about HP and torque ? Thanks, EB.
I'm guessing on the order of 2000hp or more, depending on how hard you want
to push it. The article also says it fits a 30 inch cube; very compact!.
How much horsepower do you think a four rotor engine times three would
make?
According to the article it uses 13B rotors--12 of them!
Steve Brazil
700 HP times three is 2100 HP non turbo charged.
A turbo compound version might rival a R 3350 TC without
the exhaust valve problem.

Did you say 30 inch cube? Where can I get two of them...
What would the horsepower go to with turbo compounding, 2800 hp ?
Question, any chance that an output shaft can be run along the top of the
engine to allow a tractor and pusher configuration much like the Cessna
Skymaster 337 ?

Very interesting indeed. With a range from 700 hp (non turbo) up to 1600
hp (turbo compound) the Wankel could compete with the PT 6 with propeller:
probably less expensive, lighter and consuming less. The disadvantage of
TBO (2000hrs. against 6000) could be compensated by the lower price of
parts and labour in favor of the Wankel. Am I not too optimistic ? EB.
Those that may not be aware the Fairy Rotodyne had 40 passenger service
between Paris and London, weighing 33,000lbs it had two 2,800shp turbine
engines, 59ft. fuselage, 46ft. wide wings, with two tractor mounted four
bladed propellers, vertically capable 60ft. four bladed autogyro rotor able
to auto-rotate in power out landings, the rotor blade tips had jets to power
normal landings.

What about a Wankel powered version, slide in a few more rotors in the
monster wankel design you have 2,800 hp???

A more aerodynamically efficient configuration is the V22.
