Dave Leonard tells me his VDO pressure sensors are
    not living more than 20 hours so he is replacing
    them with a mechanical oil pressure gage.
    Needless to say the oil pressure is critical to the
    life of the engine as well as Tracy's gear box.

    These are AN -3 brake lines but they will work as a reliable
    and robust oil pressure gage connections for  a MC Master
    1.5 inch OD oil pressure gage. Yes one and a half inch
    outside diameter oil pressure gage.

    You will need a jic steel NPT 1/8th pipe adapter to the
    gage and to the -4 an line.

    We are not happy with the automotive oil pressure gage
    and it's nylon lines that are in there now.

    Found a 200 psi, liquid filled 1.5" gauge at "Surplus
 Center".........Price is right..........Would   need to order

  Price is good. Is it panel mount or thread mount? Panel mount would
have
studs and a bracket to hold it from the back. I am nervous putting
mechanical
gauges in a car: Refer previous discussion about Bourdon failures.
Also the
nylon tubing WILL fail and dump oil all over. As regards our old buddy
Murphy,
that oil will end up on a new carpet or your leg. If a mechanical
gauge is
preferred, I would use a stainless braid hose with teflon lining. Best
in my
mind would be an electric gauge. A measure of the electric gauge volts
and
amps and match up a transducer to make it work. Some can be calibrated.

   Dale, you can create an extremely small diameter orifice in the
fitting at block
   that, if a line or gauge failure does occur it will be noted on the
gauge with only a very
   minimum amount of oil lost per minute of operation.
