If it is the case that it will be applied to various bell housing
 arrangements, then we just need to build it for what may be the most
 common.
 I have an 89 bell from and auto trans. Looks like a very weak piece. I
 don't
 know if anyone else uses this bell. It might not work at all. Is'nt your
 intent to keep the ring gear in it's original position for starter
 purposes?

 If you want to sell it you must make it fit Tracy's standard distance
 from rear engine housing to prop flange. Other wise a bunch of motor
 mounts
 will need to be changed.

 Here is one way of doing that for a stock bell.
 As you may have guessed by now we have been all over this before :)

 Which is the preferred bell housing? I paid $20 for the one I have. It
just
 looks like a very weak piece. It is very light. It would be easy to center
 the reduction unit on it due to the circular rear mount. There is another
 on
 ebay just like it for $75 at the moment.

 The input shaft seems to be the determining factor in mounting Tracys
unit.
 Something we should not change if we create a tube shaft unit.

 They are plenty strong as they are high pressure die castings.
 One cannot beat the strength to weight ratio short
 of a carbon bell.

 If you have the one with the large round hole it is ideal.

 That is the same one Bulent used I think and the box will recess
 nicely in it. Keep the prop shaft the same length in any event.
 Bulent used a custom length input shaft. Makes a very nice
 looking installation.

 I also think it is the same as the RX8 auto tranny bell.
 You will need a matching starter. If so there will be a good
 supply for years to come.

 If I were building a gear box that is the one I would use.
 Please buy the other one on ebay and I will buy it from you.

 The images show the 89 engine I just picked up at a wrecker with it's bell
 and starter. The other starter is from an rx8 I believe, but may fit
 earlier. The bell in the ebay auction is the same. I don't know which
 starter arrangement is preferable.

 know the address. They usually don't ship to PO boxes.

 Paul and Ed,

 The auto bell housing pictured is the same I am using with
 Tracy's RD1C (2.85) redrive.

 It is a 1986-91 housing and starter.

 The other starter will fit Cosmo 13B & 20B (all auto trans) and
 93-95 RX7 auto (not sure about RX8 auto).

 Tracy only made two extended input shafts.

 Bulent had one and I have the other one.

 I also have a Cosmo 13B and the auto bellhousing and side
 starter from that engine waiting for conversion.
