I could not resist....

I received notification that a new version of Ubuntu was now available,
version 11+ ??? so I thought I would install it on the computer I use
for email and web surfing.

12 hours later it is working, slow as molasses, can't find anything.
Every old program and link I used now has glitches and warnings that old
features no longer work. Things that were formally at my fingertips are
nowhere to be found.

So if you are tempted to try the latest Ubuntu upgrade ...

Haven't tried Ubuntu but have been running Fedora 12 [ Constantine ] for
a few years and is very stable, runs a fair amount of software, used
online 6 hrs a day. Tried running Fedora 15 but went back to Fedora 12.
Sounds like sometimes the newer versions of these Linux type O/S are not
as productive when initially released, which is to be expected. Best to
test newer versions on a seperate cloned drive - which Linux makes easy.

Hey George,

I've been a happy Linux user since back when you had to install it from
a deck of floppy disks.  I got fed up with the Windows blue screen of death.

I've determined that the best thing for me is to stay one release back
from the current issue.  Leading edge is alright but bleeding edge is
not for me.

Right now Fedora 15 is the current release.  I'm running Fedora 14.
When F16 is released I'll consider moving to F15.  I figure that most of
the bugs will have been found and fixed by the time I upgrade.
