Brian Trubee
I was up in Seattle last week so I stopped in a Brian's hangar.
He has built a rotary powered RV4 very similar to the one I have.
Here are a couple of pics. His early trouble with Tracys EC2 were
traced to ignition crank angle sensor problems. One needs to monitor
these with a data acq system or O-scope to be sure they are working right.
Brian and I were discussing the use of a camera and display in the
cockpit to aid vision forward when taxiing and taking off. The center
line of the runway is completed blocked when in a 3 point attitude.
If mounted on the tail wheel spring it would give a view of the main
landing gear
relative to the height from the ground and in theory help during landings.
One of the things I miss about high wing airplanes.
I did a bit of research at Fry's and discovered lots of small camera options
due to security concerns. Unfortunately they all sent the video to a TV
set and few included a monitor of any kind let alone a small flat one.
Many were wireless which I considered marginal for aircraft use.
Fortunately the Fry's TV department had some suitable 7 inch solid state
flat
TV sets. Here are several.
You might also use it in the air to get weather from your local TV
station.

Paul, here is a link to a potential backup camera.
The 150 degree turns out to be a problem as the end of the runway
is a mere speck in the far distance. What one needs is something more
modest say 45 degrees or even 90 degrees. More on the cameras angles later.
